![]() Short description of some of the most innovative projects, which were followed by Conoship International B.V. in 2003/2004/2005 thanks to the help of:
part11. Oceanographic Research Vessel / Kameleon ProjectThis most sophisticated ship for the French navy has become an order for Royal Niestern Sander (RNS). The order was possible not only thanks to an interesting price from RNS, but also thanks to the most innovative design of Conoship which clearly helped to beat the French alternative. The realised project has become a success. The vessel having been delivered at the end of 2004 and Conoship having been obliged to go in different aspects to the limits of their design innovative capacities. A clear reference of Conoship’s capabilities. part22. Coastal LNG TANKER ProjectQuite innovative project. Being the first realisation worldwide of a gastransport vessel using it’s own cargo as fuel. To keep temperature of cargo at acceptable low-levels part of this cargo has to be continuously blown off. This wasted gas is used as fuel for propulsion purposed of the vessel. This project has become an order for Bijlsma Lemmer and the vessel was delivered in March 2004. The market potential for similar vessels is steadily growing and will become huge. Through circumstances no repeat orders were realised since then by Conoship. part33. Underwater sight viewing vesselThis vessel is an optimised combination of restaurant vessel, disco vessel, leisure alongside the coast and underwater viewing vessel. It makes a nearly 24-hours/day usage possible, with for this reason a most rewarding investment for shipowners knowing to position themselves in relative touristic areas with exceptionally rich underwater sea life. A contract could not yet be materialised part44. World Sea Yachting projectA project in the yachting sector on which much research and detailing work has still to be done in order to finalize the feasibility study. The market is today fully mature to accept this kind of professional applications in the still new and not yet fully professionalised yachting market. Since three months the search for appropriate partners/financers could be start-up. part55. Training vessel ThailandA multipurpose 5000 tdw training vessel was designed and a proposal was made to the Authorities in 2003. Alternative proposals had since then to be developed for the Authorities during the last two years. This project already started up more than 4 years ago has not yet been finalised. This has almost all to do with hesitations on the clients side about the most appropriate “realisation approach” part66. GrefcoThis new type of ‘fast vessels’ project is probably the most innovative project in which Conoship could participate until now. Together with the owners of the project, Conoship is on speaking terms now with potential “reference clients”. Negotiations are also progressing for the financement of the new industrial activity. Technical, commercial, feasibility studies were finalised before that during the last three years. The concept is really revolutionary because cost levels below 0.03 USD/ton km can be realised, combined with speed of 50 kn and above and with high comfort even in high sea states. More information on www.grefco.com. part77. Trailing suction hopper dredgerThis dredger has been designed for comfortable use in the Gulf of Biscay, exceptional rough sea condition and higher moves than usual. The transit speed from work location to tidal harbours was more critical than usual for such vessels due to low tide avoidance. The vessel has special unloading facilities (ship to shore) related to shelves winning (unusual) besides classical sand winning. |
