M.V. 'Lady Anna' successfully launced for Wijnne & Barends
Friday 21st of October Groningen Shipyard successfully launched the first vessel of the series of 3.700 tdw Sea-River Vessels for Wijnne Barends. After building a series of 3500 tdw Ice Class vessels of Conoship-design in China, this long lasting Conoship customer from Delfzijl returned to the Winschoterdiep for their new series of Sea-River vessels.
The new project is a joint design of Groot Ship Design and Conoship International, where Conoship developed the concept design in close cooperation with Mr. Ad Toonen of Wijnne & Barends and focused on the hydrodynamic design and optimisation of the hull lines. The bulbous bow was optimised, including positioning of the 4 channels of the bow thruster, based on extensive CFD calculations. Specific CFD-efforts were focused on the aft ship: a combination of a high efficiency nozzle-design, propeller-design and the optimisation of the innovative tunnel-shaped aft-body, results in a speed of approx. 10 knots at the limited power below 750 kW. The resulting innovative hull design enables this high payload vessel to sail the coastal waters of Europe, the Trollhattan canal and the rivers Rhine and Seine at a very low fuel consumption.
We congratulate Groningen Shipyards and Wijnne & Barends with the successful launch after the very short building period in Waterhuizen.
