First of ten CIP 3800 Eco-coasters for Vega Reederei delivered

Vega Petra CIP 3800 vessel

On May 21, Yahua Shipyard delivered the Vega Petra to Vega Reederei. The vessel is the first in a series of 10 CIP 3800 vessels. The other nine vessels in the series are scheduled to be delivered over the course of 2025 and the beginning of 2026. With these upcoming deliveries, the German company is returning to the European short-sea market with force.

The European short-sea shipping fleet is aging, with a substantial amount of vessels in this segment being over 30 years old. The demand for modern, efficient tonnage is pressing and our CIP 3800 design answers this call by offering a scalable and regulation-ready solution.

Conoship’s future-proof design emphasizes fuel efficiency and emissions reduction, featuring an optimized hull with ConoDuctTail®, large-diameter propeller, and flexible diesel-electric propulsion. Each vessel is built to accommodate future upgrades to full-electric operation and wind-assisted propulsion, reinforcing both performance and sustainability. This flexible and modular design will  prove essential in the near future as EU regulations will require further emission reductions.

Key features:

  • 3,800 DWT diesel-electric general cargo vessel
  • Optimized hull with ConoDuctTail®
  • Among the most energy efficient in its class
