Water Injection Dredger Aquadelta

Design Philosophy

The Aquadelta is developed in close cooperation with the shipyard Bijlsma Wartena and the owner Van der Kamp B.V. The Aquadelta is a water injection dredger, a type of vessel that injects large volumes of water into the seabed, fluidizing the sediments so that it can flow naturally to other deeper areas.

The vessel was designed with a very long life span in mind, keeping ample room in both the lay-out and the deadweight of the vessel for future conversions. This means that the vessel can be equipped with alternative fuel and/or battery systems relatively easy in the future.

There are two injection pumps, which are electrically driven by horizontal mounted electric motors. The water injection pipes are constructed for water injection up to a depth of approximately 27 meters.

Conoship International is proud to be involved from start to finish in this project, both as integrators and designers. The concept design of the vessel was completed in record time by using extensive 3D models, and having an efficient cooperation between owner, yard and designer.
