Design philosophy of the CIP230 TEU Standard Design

The CIP230 TEU Container Feeder is built on Conoship International’s proven CIP3800 platform, with more than 30 vessels built worldwide. By extending the platform in length and fitting it with cell guides, Conoship has created a compact, efficient, and reliable container feeder for short-sea operations.

The design brings together the operational reliability of the CIP3800 general cargo platform with the cargo efficiency of a dedicated container vessel. Its open-hatch, fully cellular cargo hold supports efficient loading and discharge, while the 230 TEU intake gives owners a practical solution for regional container routes, smaller ports, and demanding feeder schedules.

With diesel-electric propulsion, the vessel is designed for efficient operation and future adaptability. The platform can be prepared for options such as wind-assisted propulsion, battery assistance, carbon capture, or alternative fuels including hydrogen and methanol.

The result is a future-ready feeder concept with a proven technical basis: standardized, adaptable, and ready for construction at a shipyard of choice.
