Design philosophy of the Koeningsborg
Converting an Ulstein PX121 Platform Supply Vessel (PSV) into a high-workability Walk-to-Work (W2W) and Emergency Response and Rescue Vessel (ERRV) required intensive structural integration. Named “Ship Conversion of the Year” upon completion, the Koenigsborg highlights Conoship International’s capability to execute complex detail engineering on third-party hull designs.
Conoship delivered the structural modifications and finite element modeling required to equip the Ulstein X-BOW® hull platform for multi-role offshore support. Engineering scopes included:
Ulstein Hull Structural Integration: Performed advanced structural analysis to integrate heavy deck assets directly onto the specialized Ulstein PX121 platform while preserving structural integrity and hydrodynamic balance.
Accommodation Expansion: Executed detail engineering to expand living quarters and operational space, allowing accommodation for up to 60 personnel under strict offshore noise and vibration limits.
Finite Element Analysis (FEA): Modeled localized structural stresses across deck reinforcement zones, verifying load-bearing capacity for heavy offshore equipment.
Motion-Compensated Gangway Foundation: Designed the deck foundation for the Ampelmann gangway system, securing maximum operational uptime during offshore personnel transfers.
ERRV Standby Infrastructure: Engineered the davit and structural support foundations for the fast rescue craft (FRB) to meet North Sea ERRV safety guidelines.
