Design philosophy of the Keizersborg
In response to the growing demand for flexible offshore maintenance and standby vessels, Conoship International provided the detailed engineering required to convert a standard Wärtsilä-designed Platform Supply Vessel (PSV) into a highly specialized Walk-to-Work (W2W) and Emergency Response and Rescue Vessel (ERRV) for Wagenborg Offshore.
Transforming a standard flat-deck unit into a multi-role offshore vessel required precise structural modifications and stability engineering. Key engineering deliverables included:
SPS Notation & Stability: Conducted comprehensive stability calculations to upgrade the vessel to Special Purpose Ship (SPS) class, allowing the safe expansion of the accommodation block for 60 personnel.
Advanced Structural Integration: Performed Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to engineer the integration of complex heavy equipment onto the existing hull structure.
Motion-Compensated Gangway Integration: Designed and engineered the foundation for the Ampelmann gangway system, essential for achieving >97% workability during crew transfers to unmanned platforms.
ERRV Capabilities: Engineered the foundations for a fast rescue boat and daughter craft, ensuring the vessel met stringent standby and rescue operational requirements in harsh North Sea conditions.
