Design philosophy of the Oceanic
In close conjunction with Hartman Marine BV, Conoship developed the Hartman M2 Runner, a flexible and spacious general cargo / project cargo vessel for the short sea market. Flexibility, (fuel) efficiency and a maximisation of the deck area were the leading aspects to be taken into account. The deck area and hold volume have been maximised within the 3,000 GT limit, enabling the vessel to transport oversized offshore plants and windmill equipments. After extensive tank testing at MARIN, the M2 Runner received the class notation “Open-Top” . This feature is usually not feasible with vessels of this size, but only permitted with vessels much larger than the Hartman M2 Runner. The ‘Oceanic’ is also an environmentally friendly vessel. Featuring an integrated nozzle and a relatively large propeller, the M2 Runner is a very fuel efficient vessel. With an installed power of 1200kW, a service speed of about 12 knots is reached.
