Design philosophy of the Viscount
The Viscount was the first vessel constructed by Shipyard Niestern Sander that exceeded a breadth of sixteen metres. The assembly of the various ship sections was executed in the yard’s new building dock in the harbour of Delfzijl. This special design was made in close cooperation with the Groningen-based shipowner, Beck. The vessel offered two identical holds for the carriage of various dry cargoes. The tank top and side plating of the hold were strengthened for the transport of heavy coils and grab-discharge.
